About Me
One of the greatest gifts is the is the ability and desire to read.
If you pass that on to your children you have done great things.
Fortunate to have been raised in a family of readers, books opened an entire universe for me outside of post-war Pittsburgh where I was born. A naturally curious person I fed my appetite with the adventures of Br’er Rabbit, intergalactic battles against invading aliens, sword fights aboard pirate ships, or if I chose to I could accompany explorers to the Antarctic, deepest dark Africa, dog sledding in the Klondike, or wild rides across America to the Beat cafés’ of San Francisco.
Often accused of being a “dreamer, with my head in the clouds”. I felt I seldom fit in with the norm and left the stifling confines of public school to begin a life of adventure. I hitchhiked and hopped freight trains through the east and south before joining the military. The service took me to the west coast of America and finally the Orient. I returned to Pittsburgh for a short time before leaving to settle in Arizona.
Along the way I have worked as a shoeshine boy, welder, steel fitter, mechanic, laborer, carpenter, photographer, surveyor and restaurateur. I have also been blessed with four wonderful children and three wonderful wives. With my experience and imagination writing was a natural fit. Poetry interested me first , influenced by Kerouac , Ginsberg, and Cassidy I wrote the usual dark moody poems of a sixteen year old. I have since moved on to short stories, plays and recently fictional novels.
I now live in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, where I sail aboard my sloop Pura Vida, enjoy water sports and write. I try to avoid sword fights. Because of my lack of a formal education writing has always been a struggle. To any young, would be writers I strongly recommend a proper educational foundation, it will pay off. I hope to learn as much as I can from other writers through the Internet , blogs and seminars….the adventure continues !
